This Concentric Circles coaster is my go-to pattern for a slightly decorative, simple, flat, functional coaster. Crocheted in any size 4 cotton yarn, it protects surfaces and can be tossed in the washer and dryer as needed.

This coaster is a good beginner project for learning to crochet in the round. The chains at the beginning of a round are not counted as stitches. Each round is joined with a slip stitch. Use a marker in last stitch of round to keep track.

Gauge is not important for this project.
