The pattern on this sock (and the matching Conchilia Cowl) was inspired by a piece of pottery I spotted at the Royal Ontario Museum. The name, Conchilia, evokes the shell pattern of the stitches.

This socks runs very small in the leg, because the number of stitches in the round varies through the chart. You can knit the small size, and go up to a 3.0mm on the leg portion, or knit the larger size on a 2.5 the whole way. Or, knit the large on a 3.0mm for the leg to really ensure stretchiness. Try your sock on after the first repeat or two of the leg chart, to make sure you can get it over your heel fairly easily. The “tightness” or negative ease of this sock will ensure that the lace stitches are really open and flowing down the leg.

Note:
Increase 5: K1,yo,k1,yo,k1 into the same stitch.
Decrease 5: sl 2, K3tog, pull 2 slipped stitches over decrease..
