These lovely fingerless mitts were made with autumn in mind and feature a pretty fan stitch.

September 2026: The pattern has been revised and updated for clarity. Small amendments have been made to the hook size (from 4mm to 3.75mm) and the instructions improved. The thumb has been reworked without the fan stitch ‘flare’ however it has been left in the pattern as an option.

Use approx. 50g of fingering weight/4ply yarn for the mitts noting that due to the nature of the stitch pattern they tend to look better in a solid or tonal colour.

The mitts fit an average sized adult female hand (approx. 20cm diameter) - sizing can be altered by using different hook sizes (guidance is given for this in the pattern).

The pattern begins with a chainless foundation with ribbing worked using front and back posts then onto the fan stitch pattern.

The pattern has been tech edited and test crocheted.

The original pattern (2017) is still available for download so make sure to download the 2026 version to avoid confusion.
