Connemara ist eine wildromantische, oft karge und von Mooren, Seen sowie schroffen Küsten geprägte Region im Westen der Grafschaft Galway in Irland.

Design Details
Den Handrücken ziert ein typisch irisches Zopfmuster, das zudem mit Perlen verziert werden kann.
Die Formgebung wird direkt beim Stricken eingearbeitet, sodass sich der Fäustling der natürlichen Handform anpasst und bequem sitzt, ohne aufzutragen.
Die Stulpenwerden zunächst ein paar Runden im Rippenmuster gestrickt. Danach beginnt der Zopf.

Connemara sind so gestaltet, dass der Zopf schon vor dem Handgelenk beginnt und somit aus einer Jacke nur der gezopfteTeil herauschaut. Das Rippenmuster an der Hand sorgt für ein gute Passform.

Konstruktion
Die Connemara Stulpen werden in Runden vom Bündchen aufwärts gestrickt. Man beginnt mit einem Rippenbündchen und nimmt dann an der Handinnenfläche Maschen für den Daumen zu, während sich Zopf und die Rippen am Handrücken nach oben fortsetzt.
Die Daumenmaschen werden stillgelegt (auf einen Hilfsfaden oder Maschenhalter), während der Handteil bis zu den Fingerspitzen weitergestrickt wird. Anschließend werden die Daumenmaschen wieder aufgenommen und in Runden fertiggestellt.

Durch Wiederholung des Charts kann die Länge der Stulpen variiert werden.

Connemara is a wildly romantic, often barren region in the west of County Galway, Ireland, characterized by bogs, lakes, and rugged coastlines.

Design Details
The back of the hand features a classic Irish cable pattern, which can also be embellished with beads. The shaping is incorporated directly as you knit, ensuring the mitten conforms to the natural shape of the hand for a comfortable, non-bulky fit. The cuffs are worked first, featuring a few rounds of ribbing before the cable pattern begins.

The Connemara mittens are designed so that the cable starts below the wrist, meaning only the cabled section shows when worn with a jacket. The ribbing over the hand ensures a snug fit.

Construction
The Connemara mitts are knitted in the round, starting from the cuff and working upwards. You begin with a ribbed cuff and then increase stitches for the thumb on the palm side, while the cable and ribbing continue up the back of the hand. The thumb stitches are placed on hold (on a scrap yarn or stitch holder) while the hand section is knitted up to the fingertips. Finally, the thumb stitches are picked up again and finished in the round. The length of the mitts can be varied by repeating the chart.
