Constantina is a one-skein shawlette shaped to stay on your shoulders - perfect for a little added warmth when working at a desk. Decorative panels provide an appealing border and shoulder line. All the lace is worked in garter stitch, making for faster, easier progress.

The Lace stitches are provided both as charts and as written directions - pick whichever you prefer to work from.

Constantina is almost rectangular in shape, this means that the balance of fabric over the shoulders gives weight and coverage at the front and enables it to sit on your shoulders nicely. The decorative lace panels in the middle of the shawl sit right on your shoulder line. If you want a shawl that keeps your neck and shoulders warm whilst you work at your computer, read in bed or knit of an evening then Constantina is a great choice.

All the lace in this pattern is worked in garter stitch, this means there is no need to worry about directional decreases and the working is quicker and easier. The pattern is simple, you should memorise it fairly quickly. The only touch of difference in the construction is that all the yarn overs are doubled. This just means that you wind your yarn around the needle twice when making each yarn over. When you work the yarn over on the next row you simply drop the extra wrap. The result is larger holes - this gives a lacier look and helps the garter stitch match the stocking-stitch better in height (normally garter stitch is more compact).

This pattern debuted in the Vintage Purls Summer Sock Yarn Club 2015.
