While people see many different things in them (I had suggestions ranging from rain on windows to labyrinths to musical pieces), the cables on these socks do seem to evoke a contemplative mood.

The pattern assumes familiarity with cabling and basic cuff-down sock construction techniques. It will go a lot faster if you know how to work cables without a cable needle - I have not included a tutorial for this in the pattern since there are a number of good ones, such as this one, already available. The cable pattern is currently provided only in charted form.

Four sizes are included:
Small (64 stitch cuff, to fit approximately 7 inch foot)
Medium (68 stitch cuff, to fit approximately 8 inch foot)
Large (76 stitch cuff, to fit approximately 9 inch foot)
Extra Large (84 stitch cuff, to fit approximately 10 inch foot)

These fit considerably tighter than a stockinette sock with the same stitch count.

If you’re printing the pattern in black and white, you’ll want to make note of the highlighted columns on the chart.
