Contour Seamless Jockstrap
Description
The Contour Seamless Jockstrap is a modern, high-performance undergarment designed specifically for the male anatomy. This design is entirely seamless, utilizing a “join-as-you-go” technique that connects the waistband and back straps directly to the pouch. The use of BPhdc (Back Post Half Double Crochet) creates a ribbed, elastic texture that provides both support and a sleek, contoured aesthetic.
Size Options
This pattern is written for five sizes based on waist circumference. The fit is designed with negative ease to ensure it stays in place.
XS: 25.5–29.5” (65–75 cm)
S: 29.5–33.5” (75–85 cm)
M: 33.5–37.5” (85–95 cm)
L: 37.5–41.5” (95–105 cm)
XL: 41.5–45.5” (105–115 cm)
Adjustment Tip: Instructions are included to add or remove rows in the pouch to customize the volume independently of the waist size.
Gauge & Tension
To ensure the correct dimensions and support, please check your gauge:
27 sts x 22 rows = 4” (10 cm) in BPhdc using the 3.5 mm hook.
Important: A tight tension is necessary for this project. If your swatch is larger than 4”, please switch to a smaller hook.
Materials Needed
Yarn: Sport or DK weight cotton blend (Category 2 or 3). Cotton is recommended for breathability and stitch definition.
Hooks:
3.5 mm (E/4) for the main body.
2.5 mm for the elasticized borders (essential for a snug fit).
Notions:
Elastic sewing thread (to be carried along the waistband and strap edges).
Yarn needle.
Yarn Requirements
Main Color: 1 skein (approx. 100g / 250m) is sufficient for all sizes.
Note: For sizes XS–M, you will use approximately 60–80g. For L–XL, expect to use closer to 100g. If using two colors, reserve approximately 35% for the waistband and straps.
Technical Pro-Tip
This pattern uses elastic thread reinforcement. This is a crucial step to ensure the crochet does not stretch out over time. The elastic is “trapped” inside the single crochet stitches (sc) along the waistband and leg openings to provide lasting “memory” to the fabric.
