A simple shorty sock pattern that is the perfect step up from your basic vanilla sock. The pattern is mostly stockinette but features a panel knitted in hurdle stitch which runs down the centre of the foot. This is a simple 4 row repeat of knit and purl stitches which aim to add interest and texture.

The sock is worked cuff down on DPN’s and features a heel flap and gusset, with a square toe. The pattern includes cast on instructions for 56,64 and 72 stitches, meaning there are three size options available.

The pattern itself is super simple but engaging enough to keep the knitter occupied. The 4 row repeat is easy and memorable and is perfect for showcasing variegated yarns. On the other hand, knitting this in a solid yarn would really allow the pattern to pop!
