This is not your traditional, static PDF! A Smart Pattern utilizes Poppy Shop’s digital Smart Pattern Generator. Instead of forcing you to match a specific gauge and size, the generator mathematically calibrates the entire pattern to fit your unique body measurements and actual swatch gauge. By decoupling the design from the math, you get custom-fit instructions and precision yardage requirements every single time.

SIZES
Custom Fit to YOU: Say goodbye to guessing which size bracket you fall into. Simply enter your exact head circumference into the generator, and the pattern will mathematically adjust to fit you perfectly.

Standard Sizing (Perfect for Gifts!): Making this for someone else and can’t measure their head? No problem. Our generator includes a built-in Size Standards Chart (Child through Adult 2XL). Just pick a standard size, plug those numbers in, and the math is done for you.

NEEDLES
Circular needles (16”) and Double Pointed Needles (for the crown) in the size required to meet your Target Fabric feel. You will also need a second set of needles 1 to 2 sizes smaller for all ribbed portions.

YARN
Weight: Any yarn weight from Sport to Worsted is suitable! Because this pattern adjusts to your unique gauge, you have the freedom to stash-dive and choose your own fiber.
Amount: Your exact yardage will be mathematically calculated based on your custom size and gauge. Simply enter your measurements into the generator to reveal your custom yarn requirement!

Yarn: Custom-dyed 4-ply Worsted Weight (Category 4) yarn (185yds/100g).
Fiber Blend: Superwash Merino (80%), Cashmere (10%), Nylon (10%).
Amount Used: 260 yards (238 meters).
Needles: 4.5mm 16” (40cm) circulars and DPNs, with 4mm for the ribbing.
Gauge: 20 stitches & 30 rows per 4” (10cm) in stockinette worked in the round.

Aim for a dense, structured fabric that holds its shape. Go down 1 or 2 needle sizes from what your yarn’s ball band recommends.
