The Convertible Waffle Mitts are knit in-the-round and bottom up, starting with a 1x1 rib that continues into a lovely waffle stitch. The mitten flap is created by placing the back-of-hand stitches on a holder to be picked up later. From there, knitting for the fingerless portion continues, picking up from the back side of the row below the held stitches, making for a near-seamless transition from hand to mitten flap.

If you so choose, these mitt can be topped with a crocheted loop and a button on the wrist to fasten during wear. These are the perfect cozy mitts for those blustery transitional seasons. I hope you give them a try!
