Coorie Scarf
In Scotland, there is a lovely word: Coorie (Gaelic word “coorie” ( or „courie“), which historically meant to snuggle, nestle, crouch or pull in - especially against the weather).
Sometimes the simplest pieces become the ones we reach for again and again. Coorie is just that - a small, elegant scarf that adds warmth without bulk and a touch of effortless style to any outfit.
Coorie describes that deep sense of coziness and contentment you feel when you’re wrapped up warm, sheltered from the elements, completely at ease. It’s often called the Scottish version of “hygge” - a quiet, grounding comfort that comes from softness,
warmth, and simplicity. This little scarf is made to capture exactly that feeling.
The pattern is completely adaptable, so you can make the most of whatever yarn you have on hand. Knit it longer for extra wraps, shorter for a neat tie, narrower or wider depending on your mood — it’s designed to work with the yardage you have available.
For my sample, I used Cardiff Cashmere Classic and Cardiff Prime, which give the scarf a beautifully soft hand and a lightweight yet cozy feel. But truly, this is a perfect project for any yarn you love — from rustic wool to silky blends.
A small, satisfying and quick knit with endless possibilities.
