This cowl and bonnet set can easily be made in a couple of evenings with less than 372 yds of yarn so it makes for a great stash-busting project. The alternating FLhdc – BLhdc pattern creates a nice textured and stretchy garment that holds its shape.

I created this pattern for my son for his third birthday. It is sized for children ages three to four. If you would like to make it for a younger child, I would suggest picking a yarn and hook that is a size smaller (and for an older child, you may want to go up a hook and yarn size).
