The Cord Tree is a three-tiered Christmas tree ornament — or simply a decorative piece: a small, quick project, perfect for leftover yarn.

The Cord Tree can be knitted with almost any yarn. To keep it firm and stiff when hanging on the tree (so it doesn’t flop like a wet towel…), use needles 1–1.5 mm smaller than the yarn label suggests.

The Cord Tree is worked from the tree top downward with an integrated I-cord edge. Increases are worked in every row until the width of the top tier is reached. Decreases are then worked into the body of the tree to shape the top tier. The middle and bottom tiers are worked in the same way.

The Cord Tree can be knitted on a circular needle or using double-pointed needles.

Der Cord Tree ist ein dreistöckiger Christbaum- oder Geschenkanhänger oder einfach nur Deko – ein kleines Zwischendurchprojekt, perfekt für Wollreste.

Der Cord Tree kann mit nahezu jedem Garn gestrickt werden. Damit der Cord Tree fest und steif am Weihnachtsbaum hängt (und nicht wie ein nasses Handtuch…), empfiehlt sich eine um 1–1,5 mm kleinere als die üblicherweise für das Garn empfohlene Nadelstärke.

Begonnen wird an der Baumspitze. Es werden in jeder Reihe Zunahmen gearbeitet bis die Breite der oberen Etage erreicht ist. In den Baumkörper hinein gearbeitete Abnahmen schließen die obere Etage ab. Die mittlere und untere Etage werden auf dieselbe Weise gearbeitet.

Der Cord Tree wird auf einer Rundstricknadel oder auf Nadelspiel-Stricknadeln gearbeitet.
