My perfect cottage mitts are knit with the softest fingering weight wool yarn. Any beautiful sock yarn will work well, too.

My sample pair featured here were knit with my hand-dyed merino wool blend in the Firewood colorway.

An excellent pattern for beginner knitters, instructions are written for each round.

My preferred technique for knitting in the round is MagicLoop and instructions are suited for that method, however, if you are a DPN fan or want to perfect your DPN knitting, this is an excellent pattern for that as well.

I’ve included notes for where I switch to DPNs to make it a bit easier.

The top finishing of both the hand and thumb makes these mitts more refined than my true winter mitts and they wear perfectly indoors and outdoors during the spring and fall seasons.
