Cottagecore 16” pillow cover created with crocheted floral leaf & stem crochet appliques. Instructions include pictures of steps and expanded explanations. This pattern and project are suitable for beginner-intermediate crocheters. Hand sewing is part of the project.

Materials Needed:

Yarn & Hook:

15 yds yarn for each stem & branch motif applique
1 ½ yds yarn for each leaf
100 yds yarn for optional trim (Choose a yarn with linen or hemp fiber content for best trim stitch definition.)
Sport or lightweight DK, Hook Size E or F

16” Solid color front square removable pillow cover with closure at center back (not on one side), with no piping or edge trim for making your own

OR select a pillow cover with existing edge trim if you don’t want to make that element, yourself.

Sewing needle (“sharp’ or small size)

Sewing thread in same color/s as completed crochet appliques (polyester is strongest)

Sewing Pins

Steam iron & ironing table or mat

Ruler

Fabric marking pencil or chalk

16” Square piece of cardboard or poster board

For Optional Crochet Trim:

Crochet Thread (“3” or “5” gauge) in either the solid color of the pillow cover or the first row of yarn chosen for the trim
