This gorgeous soft cardigan is made from alpaca and wool blend. It’s designed to be oversized and cropped to end just near your waistline. It’s made without buttons, finished with a chunky edge.

Before you begin
This cardigan has an oversized fit. If you’d rather go for something a bit less roomy, I’d recommend sizing down.
The jumper is worked from the top of the back down. We start by casting on stitches at the upper back and shaping the dropped shoulders using German short rows. This part is knitted back and forth - knit stitches on the right side, purl stitches on the wrong side.
Then we move on to the left shoulder, adding increases along the neckline to start shaping the front. Once that’s done, we do the same on the right shoulder. When both shoulders are the same length, we join them to continue working the front of the cardigan, shaping the armholes as we go.
We continue knitting and working increases along the edge of the cardigan until it reaches the desired length. The body is finished in a rib stitch, with the hem neatly bound off using an Italian bind-off for a clean, stretchy edge.
Once the body is done, we move on to the sleeves. These are worked in the round in stockinette stitch (just knit stitches), with some decreases along the way for a better fit. Like the hem, the cuffs are finished with a rib stitch and an Italian bind-off.
The final touch is the edging - worked in double knitting along the inside edge of the cardigan for a neat and polished finish.
