This pattern also includes directions for a matching afghan.

From Nicky Epstein’s Knitting For Your Home:

“Counterpane blocks and solid blocks with floral appliques combine to make this creamy white afghan. Double-knit tassels are sewn to each garter-stitch-bordered point. My matching pillow uses the counterpane block with four tassels sewn to the corners. If you like, you can also use the floral block to make the pillow.”

Note: The yarn originally recommended in the book is Coats & Clarks “Soft.” It is my understanding this yarn is now sold as Red Heart Soft.
