Cove Tide captures the quiet beauty of a morning walk along the shore, where delicate sand dollars and fragments of sea glass are revealed by the receding tide.
Worked in three colors of fingering-weight (sock-weight) yarn, the lace motifs are highlighted by garter stitch sections with gentle color changes that evoke shifting tides and sunlit water. The result is a lightweight, versatile shawl that will wrap you in the simple elegance of the seaside.

Yarn: Fingering/sock yarn in three colors: approximately 35 grams/165 yards/150 meters color 1 (C1), 45 grams/210 yards/190 meters C2, and approximately 55 grams/255 yards/235 meters C3 for standard size. There are options for increasing the size of the shawl, in which case you will need a total of approximately 70 grams/325 yards/295 meters C1, 90 grams/420 yards/380 meters C2,and (unchanged) 55 grams/255 yards/235 meters C3.

The sample was worked Bad Sheep Yarn Basic Sock Fingering, a 75% wool/25% nylon yarn with 462 yards/422 meters per 100grams, in colors Sand Dollar (C1), Sea Glass (C2), and Amy (C3). Other wool and wool-blend yarns of similar weight would also work.

Needles: US 6/4.0 mm or size needed to achieve gauge.

Notions: 19 stitch markers if shawl worked as written, 25 stitch markers for larger size; tapestry needle to weave in ends.
Size: Edges approximately 72 x 64 x 40 “/180 x 160 x 100 cm after blocking. The pattern provides the option to make a larger shawl if desired.

Gauge/Tension: 24 stitches and 28 rows to 4”/ 10 cm in stockinette stitch, blocked.

You will receive three files: The fully written pattern including all charts; a version that includes all of the information and charts, tips, and photos but in a condensed format; and a separate chart-only file with all of the charts in a high-contrast format for low vision knitters.
