When my husband saw these, he was skeptical. “We’re making sweaters for rocks now?”

Yes. Yes, we are. Because rocks, those lowly bits of earth, are beautiful. We can bring our attention to that beauty by adding a touch of softness, of lace, of color--I learned that from Margaret Oomen’s gorgeous, lacy rocks. These are much simpler, suitable for the beginning crocheter—but they, too, are works of art, meant to inspire us and ground us, both at the same time.
