Mooooo-ve over teddy bears and ducks, it’s COW time! :)

This pattern is written for DK or worsted weight yarn, to create hat circumferences of 10”, 11.5”, 14.5”, 17”, 19.5”, 24”.

The worsted weight hats take 120 to 210 yards of yarn, and the DK versions take 140 to 240 yards. The gauge for DK is 22 stitches and 32 rows over 4” using a US 5/ 3.75mm; the gauge for worsted is 19 stitches and 25 rows over 4” using a US 7/4.5 mm.

Cow Tails is created using stranding; some of the rows have 3 colors simultaneously, so it is slightly more challenging than a true Fair Isle. Alternatively, the third color could be integrated using duplicate stitch after knitting.
