For this cowl, a rectangle is worked flat and seamed afterwards - for thicker yarns, after twisting the rectangle once before seaming to form a Moebius band (as done for sample cowl in photo), for thinner yarns, twice.

Experienced crocheters may opt for joining while crocheting this up, but instructions for this are not provided in the pattern
