This is a super simple hat pattern, based on a hat I made freehand when I first learned to crochet. This would be a great project for a beginner who wants to practice crocheting in a spiral with bulky yarn. The pattern now includes four size options--I added a Toddler size in January 2020. I did not measure gauge or yardage, but I used a bit less than 1 ball of yarn for each hat I made. I was able to make exactly 4 hats (1 sm/med, 2 med/lg, and 1 adult/reg) with 3 balls of yarn.
