Any yarn can be used to make this pattern. Be sure to use the hook size recommended by the manufacturer of your chosen yarn.

I used a 4.5 hook and an acrylic DK which gave a 42 x 47 inch blanket. I would suggest that Aran weight would be a good match for this pattern.
