Gauge
Gauge will affect final size and yarn usage. I advise you to make a swatch of at least 20 stitches and rows so you know what you gauge is with the yarn you like to use. Then measure in the center of the swatch how many stitches there are in 10x10 cm (4x4 inch). This way you can also aim on the size of the blanket you like. If you like the project to be slightly bigger, you can choose a bigger hook size and or use heaver yarn.
Your Gauge |Stitches and Rows | Estimated project size in cm and inch
20 – 22 = 133.5 x 161.36 cm. / 53.4 x 64.55 inch.
18 – 20 = 148.33 x 177.5 cm. / 59.33 x 71 inch.
16 – 18 = 166.88 x 197.22 cm. / 66.75 x 78.89 inch.
14 – 16 = 190.71 x 221.88 cm. / 76.29 x 88.75 inch.
12 – 14 = 222.5 x 253.57 cm. / 89 x 101.43 inch.

Yarn Requirements (Estimated)
For the average gauge of 16x18. Project size (approx 166,88 x 197,22 cm / 66,75 x 78,89 inch.):

• Total yarn: approx. 7.073–9.337 meters (7.735–10.211 yards) DK / Light Worsted
Dark Color approx. 78–79% of total yardage, Light Color approx. 21–22% of total yardage

As a guideline, this equals approximately:
Dark Color: 5.559–7.344 m (6.079–8.032 yd)
Light Color: 1.514–1.993 m (1.656–2.179 yd)

Using a smaller hook size will reduce overall yarn usage; a larger hook or looser tension may increase it. Using a smaller hook size will reduce overall yarn usage; a larger hook or looser tension may increase it.
