After receiving many requests for an advent shawl pattern, here it is! This pattern is an example of everything coming together even better than I expected, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it has turned out! The dimensions and drape make it incredibly versatile, so it can be worn as an elegant shawl, a casual wrap, or a trendy chunky scarf!

This pattern is designed to make a blanket using a yarn advent calendar comprised of:

  • 24 or 25 X 20g/80m (0.7oz/87yd) mini-skeins, and
  • 1 X 100g/400m (3.5oz/437yd) skein, all in fingering weight/4ply yarn.

The photographed example is made using Louie & Lola Yarn’s 2023 Gingerbread Haus advent calendar. This pattern would also work using mini-skeins or scrap yarn and a contrasting main skein.

There are only 4 rows to memorise in this pattern, making it the perfect relaxing project for a busy time of year! The dimensions of the finished project will be approximately 47cm X 200cm (19in X 79in).

This pattern is suitable for a beginner, with photos and a chart included for additional support. This pattern is available in US and UK versions.
