This is a pattern for an anatomically correct human heart.

Note: This pattern was updated on December 18, 2017 for clarity and to include better assembly instructions. The updated version is marked with “18/12/17” in the top left corner of page 1.

Supplies Needed:

  • Red and burgundy yarn of the same weight. You can use any yarn you like- I recommend a tightly wound acrylic or cotton yarn.
  • Hook size depends on the yarn weight - make sure you use one a few sizes smaller than the one recommended on the yarn label. You want to make a nice tight fabric so that the stuffing doesn’t show through. For reference, I usually use a 3.5mm hook for worsted weight and aran yarns.
  • Polyfill stuffing
  • Yarn needle

This pattern is worked in the round - do not join rounds. Continue in a spiral. The heart is made up of a number of pieces that are stuffed and sewn together at the end. This pattern has been tested!
