Hi friends! Here’s a great beginner’s project for people starting crochet or those wanting to work on color blocking. This pattern guides you through the process of crocheting a checkered square great for coasters or wall art. This pattern is designed to be both easy to follow and fun to complete. This is a very customizable pattern and an excellent scrap buster, so feel free to experiment with different colors and gauges! You can use any mm yarn and hook, but I recommend sizing down at least .50mm to make the switches appear fuller and less gappy. I used 4mm yarn with a 3mm hook. I worked each “checker” in 5 dbc increments, but you can go as low as 2 and as high as you’d like!
