This darling peep is a perfect decoration or gift for Easter, and, it’s healthier than the sugar version! It can be made larger or smaller by changing the yarn weight or the hook size. I could never find a chick peep pattern that really looked similar enough to the real peeps, so I tried coming up with my own. It was not easy to get that shape, let me tell you!

I would rate the pattern difficulty as easy/intermediate. There are a lot of increases and decreases used to alter the shape that beginning crocheters might find difficult.

There is no gauge for this pattern. Sizes will depend on hook and yarn used.

Pattern is written and charted in U.S. terms and symbols.

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn (worsted weight is probably easiest to work with, but use whatever yarn you wish)
  • Crochet hook (size F or H worked well)
  • Yarn needle
  • Small amount of stuffing
  • Something to make eyes (beads, yarn, thread, safety eyes, I used black mascara)
  • (Optional) thick paper/cardboard to place in bottom of peep
