This pattern is a basic recipe for a blanket – make it to whatever dimensions you want and with whatever yarn you like. The effect of the mitre square looks best with a variegated or self-striping yarns, though. The squares are worked from 2 outside edges and decrease to a single corner. Then without cutting or finishing off, you continue to work the next square down the side of the existing one – so there’s no sewing together at the end.

The finished dimensions without the border were approximately 80 x 130 cm. My border was 5.5cm wide, so the overall dimensions were about 91 x 141 cm.

The gauge on the squares is 5 SC = 4 cm
