From the moment I saw the Mooncalf in the first ‘Fantastic Beasts’ film, I felt an instant connection. Not only was he visually such a striking, soulful creature, I resonated with their link to my favourite Harry Potter character - Luna - and otherworldly beauty.

As a passionate advocate of animal rights, along with sometimes feeling quite out of step with the human world myself, I felt a deep desire to bring to life this magical, docile creature… by setting this pattern free into the world, I hope that can happen!

This DIGITAL Pattern is INTERMEDIATE LEVEL. Skills needed include:
• Crocheting in the round, using both a “magic ring” and foundation chain.
• Working in split rounds.
• Basic sewing to join the ears

The PDF includes text and photos, along with a yarn guide. The pattern HAS also been tested by a group of fellow WitchCrafters, so I have every faith that it is “maker-worthy”. Nonetheless, you are welcome to contact me with any questions you may have.

This pattern requires approximately 65m/70 yards of grey yarn and 15 yards of beige yarn.
