With homeschool this past year I have found that I have more time for portable crafts and less time to sit and sew. My remedy was to pick up crochet again.

I thought perhaps there are others out there who could benefit from a mesh of the two arts, and my oldest daughter put in the first request: A Crochet Top Maxi Dress

This listing is for two downloadable PDF files. One tutorial for the crochet bodice and one tutorial for the sewn dress (using the finished crochet bodice.)

I’ve included pictures and clearly written descriptions and some wonderful volunteers helped me test and refine the pattern prior to release!!! (Pause to cheer for testers.)

Crochet Top: requires a H or 5mm hook. (Or whatever is needed to obtain the suggested gauge.) The yarn requirement is about 1/2 skein of worsted weight acrylic.

Maxi Dress: requires cotton yardage in two prints, thread to match yarn, knit elastic, and a ballpoint needle. (Normal sewing notions will also be required.)

Skill level for both crochet and sewing are Advanced Beginner.

Stitches used are foundation chain single crochet (I’ve included links to a video tutorial in the pattern), single crochet, half double crochet, front post hdc and back post hdc.

The sizes are for 3 to 9 girls. Charts are included with cutting instructions for the material as well as finished measurement charts for the bodice and completed dress.
