Crockett Lake is a beautiful protected marshland near my home on Whidbey Island. Each year various birds migrate and either stop, or stay at Crockett Lake. The stranded color work reminds me of the flocks of birds, flying over my home, on their journeys… some to Crockett Lake, some to parts unknown to me.

S/M size would be best for those with small heads, or tweens. M/L will fit most adults (I can wear this size but I prefer one made with the larger needles… my head is 23” circumference.) The L/XL fits me on the smaller needles, and for my husband who has a ginormous head, I used the larger needles and the XL size.

Originally designed with my four color fade kits in mind, this hat really showcases a fade or gradient beautifully. But as shown, works equally well with a variegated yarn, or any four colors you desire… making it great for stash busting! Use those bits and bobs.

The plum/gold fade version - M/L size on 5/6 needles used:

MC- 45g
CCs - 6g each

For my husbands XL on 6/7 needles: (I didn’t follow the chart precisely so used different amounts of the CCs…)

MC - 47g
CC1 - 8g
CC2 - 6g
CC3 - 5g
CC4 - 6g
