This sock pattern was created for Super Sock Scarefest 2018. The design is inspired by the vampire device in Guillermo del Toro’s Cronos. The leg of the socks features a lace pattern resembling the scarab-like golden device and a ribbed cable pattern drawing from the scrolling snake design on its surface. A cable design on the heel flap evokes the clawed swirls on the back casing of the device. Optional beads can be placed on the scarabs just like the crystal on the front of the device.

The pattern specifies three sizes and the foot length can be varied as required. The socks are knit toe-up and incorporate an integrated gusset and heel flap that doesn’t require stitches to be picked up.

Any fingering weight sock yarn may be used. Beads are placed using the crochet hook method - a small crochet hook or beading tool is required if you wish to add beads. Also requires a cable needle.
