This is an intertwining cable knit hat, reminiscent of the crossing of bóithrín around the Irish countryside.
The hat is knit in the round from the bottom up. A cable panel is repeated four or five times around the circumference of the hat and each panel incorporates the crown decreases.
Smaller than usual needles are used to create a close fitting brim which can be worn folded up or down. The hat is finished with a bouncy pompom or can be left without if you prefer the detail of the crown to be on show!
