Edit 2011: Some of you had problems to get the socks over the heel. Please notice that the pattern doesn’t work with “normal” sock yarn and needles 2.25, the socks will become too tight! Use larger needles and thicker sock yarn (Colinette Jitterbug or something like that) & your socks will turn out fine!

Last photo shows a variation with longer ribbing, German heel and cuff-pattern all over the instep.

I’m sorry, the written instructions under the chart may be a bit confusing in rounds 7 and 9. In these rounds you have to “steal” some stitches from the round before. The written instructions were generated from the chart by the “Knit Visualizer” program, which doesn’t really know how to cope with the borrowing. So: Please only look at the chart in rounds 7 and 9 and make sure, that the purl stitches are lining up on top of each other, building columns.
