♫ The Music ♫
The Crossing is a poignant ballad written and performed by Cape Breton’s own Rita MacNeil; it speaks of the ocean crossings that so many undertook to start a new life across the sea and the ever-present yearnings for home. The cables in this pattern are perfect reminders of the intertwining journeys of these courageous individuals.

Pattern Features:

  • These toe-up socks begin with a wide toe.
  • The cable pattern begins in a V-shape and grows to fill the instep while the sole is worked in Stockinette stitch.
  • The top of the leg is worked in a lattice pattern and ends in a rolled cuff.
  • The repeat section in Chart C allows for adjustment of the leg height, if desired.

This pattern is fully charted.
