Crochet Pattern for these beautiful crystal geodes! It is an instant pdf download - not a physical item.
This lovely magical item is no sew! It can be a fun fidget toy, or pretty decoration!
This is a geode that can open! There are instructions to make the optional button closure so you can make a true crystal treasure! This can then be used for fun, or as a ring box! This can also make for a fun science display in a classroom!
A great gift for kids, teachers, and rockhounds or rock collectors!

The pdf includes instructions for two different sizes - large and small.
You should already know how to crochet the stitches listed below before buying this pattern.

This was tested by my amazing team!
Size: Large - 3.5 inch diameter; Small - 2.5 inch diameter
Difficulty: Easy! A beginner should be able to do this if they learn the basic stitches first.

This top quality pattern is 15 pages (8 if you print double sided!) and guides you along with plenty of pictures and tips.

The yarn I used: worsted weight, 4 ply.

Gauge: 17 single crochet stitches by 17 rows makes a 4x4 inch square.
Because this is a non-wearable item, you don’t need to stress too much about gauge as long as your stitches are tight enough that there are no large gaps.

Suggested Yarn
This is what I used, but don’t be afraid to do your own version!
I used worsted weight, 4ply acryllic yarn. RHSS = Red Heart Super Saver
Your choice of Red Heart Super Saver or similar yarn that matches the beads you will use.
RHSS “White”
For the outer shell I used multiple different things including: RHSS “Charcoal,” RHSS “Heather,” RHSS “Light Gray,” and RHSS Metallic “Light Gray”
Yardage
For a small geode half – 12 yards gray for outer shell, 10 yards of color that matches beads, and 2 yards white.
For a large geode half – 27 yards gray for outer shell, 22 yards of color that matches beads, and 3 yards white.

You will also need:
Yarn needle
Stitch Markers (I just use a short yarn)
Beads – Specifically 9 mm barrel style pony beads – either regular or faceted – with a 4 mm hole. A small half takes about 50 beads, a large takes about 100. I like getting colored beads, you can also use clear and let the yarn behind it give it color.
Button – for optional closure, I used half inch sized gray buttons
Hook Sizes: F (3.75mm), E (3.5mm)
