A Critter Scarf can be a good choice for a child. Starting the knitting with two “toes” creates a great mouth for biting its own tail. It is fun to wear but even more fun to make on your Circular Sock Machine. The snap nose closure adds an element of safety as opposed to wearing the long loose ends of a traditional scarf.

Off the machine, simply close the ends with Kitchener stitch and add features. A button nose could substitute for the snap. Embroider the eyes and you are done.

The scarf uses 50 grams of sock yarn the color intended for the body and about 25 grams of white sock yarn.

Simple pattern. The head requires care in making what would be toes if making a sock.
