El cuello Joplin está tejido en circular de un extremo a otro y su textura recuerda al camino de baldosas amarillas. Una vez hayas tejido el largo indicado de tu cuello según la talla elegida, deberás coser los extremos utilizando la puntada de colchón o “mattress stitch”, no sin antes doblar tu cuello para darle un toque más sofisticado.
Técnicas utilizadas
Para poder tejer el cuello Joplin tendrás que saber montar y cerrar puntos, tejer del derecho, tejer del revés, deslizar puntos, saber trabajar la técnica del punto mosaico y saber coser con la técnica de la puntada de colchón o “mattress stitch”.
Agujas recomendadas
Si eliges la versión fingering, agujas circulares de 3 mm (US 2 ½) con un cable de, al menos, 40 cm; si prefieres la versión DK, agujas de 3’5 mm (US 4) con un cable de, al menos, 40 cm. También puedes usar agujas de doble punta o agujas circulares con un cable más largo para trabajar con la técnica de magic loop, si esa es tu elección. Puedes utilizar el número de aguja que necesites para ajustar tu tensión.
Lana
Lana grosor fingering (400 m en 100 gr) en dos colores diferentes. La cantidad de lana utilizada dependerá de la talla y del largo del cuello.

En la versión DK, 20 puntos por 36 vueltas en un cuadrado de 10 x 10 cm, tejido en redondo con agujas de 3’5 mm (US 4) y con la textura del diseño, después del bloqueo.

El cuello Joplin se presenta en cuatro diferentes tallas, en función del largo y de la circunferencia del cuello:
-Niño mayor de 3 años: 49’5 cm de circunferencia por 18’5 cm de alto.
-Adolescente: 61’5 cm de circunferencia por 20 cm de alto.
-Adulto S: 70 cm de circunferencia por 20 cm de alto.
-Adulto L: 73’5 cm de circunferencia por 21’5 cm de alto.
Medidas

You can knit the Joplin cowl in fingering weight yarn or in DK weight yarn.
Joplin is a city in Missouri located along historical Route 66. On the outskirts lies the Missouri–Kansas border, the setting for the book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum. In this picturesque place you can find “the yellow brick road,” the very path Dorothy had to follow to reach the Emerald City.
The Joplin cowl is worked in the round, from end to end, and its texture recalls the yellow brick road. Once you have knitted the required length for your chosen size, twist the cowl for a stylish look, then seam the ends together using mattress stitch.
Skilss required
Pattern requires the following skills: knit, purl, cast on and bind off stitches, slip stitches, work with two strands of yarn using mosaic knitting and knowledge about how to seam with mattress stitch technique.
Recommended neddle size
US 2 ½ (3 mm) circular needles for the fingering version, or US 4 (3’5 mm) circular needles for the DK version, at least 40 cm long, or US 2 ½ or 4 (3 mm or 3’5 mm) circular needles either at least 80 cm long to use magic loop, or DPN’s if that’s your choice. You can use another needle size to obtain gauge.

Fingering weight yarn (400 m / 100 g) in two different colors.
DK weight yarn (193 m / 100 g) in two different colors, or fingering weight yarn held together with a lace weight yarn. In both versions, the amount of yarn you will need will depend on your size choosen.

-Adult L: 29 inches circumference and 8 ½ inches height.
