Cuff-down Size-inclusive Vanilla Shortie Socks
This is a #SizeInclusive basic pattern for cuff-down, vanilla, shortie socks in 7! sizes. It utilizes a standard cuff, heel flap and gusset, and 2 types of toe decreases.
Instructions are included for a longer leg, if desired.
This is a learn-how-to-knit-SOCKS pattern. :)
It’s an easy pattern to follow for a beginning knitter who has a basic knowledge of casting on, knit, purl, decreases, and is comfortable using your needles of choice.
(i.e. Magic loop, 2 Circulars, DPNs or 9” Circulars)
It could be used as a learn-to-knit pattern if a new knitter is willing/able to research the basic techniques expected for this pattern:
casting on, knit, purl, decreases, knitting in the round, use of needles of your choice
Included in the pattern are video tutorials for:
1) Picking up the gusset stitches on your heel flap.
2) How to kitchener graft the toes of your socks.
3) Starting the heel flap:
Demonstrated using 4 different needle methods
(2 circulars, 4 or 5 DPNs, 9 inch circular, magic loop)
4) Starting and finishing the heel turn, including detailed instruction on “knitting to the gap”.
Available in these sizes:
XXS (XS, S, M) L, XL, 2XL
With a finished foot circumference of:
5 (6, 7, 8) 9, 10, 11 inches and
12.75 (15.25, 17.75, 20.25) 22.75, 25.5, 28 cm
(cm rounded to the nearest .25)
Recommended needle size:
US 1 (2.25mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge:
8 stitches/11 rounds = 1 inch/2.5 cm in Stockinette
32 stitches/44 rounds = 4 inches/10 cm in Stockinette
Notions:
Stitch markers, Tapestry Needle, Scissors, Tape Measure, Extra needle(s) to pick up stitches and/or knit the heel flap/heel turn (same size you’re using to knit the socks)

Grams:
20 (30, 40, 50) 60, 70, 80
Yardage/Meterage:
95 (140, 185, 235) 280, 325, 370 yards
85 (130, 170, 215) 260, 300, 340 meters
~ The yarn amounts are a guide based on test knitting, rounded up.
~ You may require a bit more or less yarn due to the natural variance in foot lengths.
~ If you choose to add to the leg length, you will need more yarn.
~ Recommended yarns are just suggestions. Any fingering weight sock yarn, whether commercial or indy-dyed, will work for this pattern.
