In addition to a comforting familiar friend, HugKnits Cupcake can double as a puppet–the cupcake is hollow–a great distraction tool for a fussy or bored baby. Hint: Older children love them too.

These directions are for the HugKnit Cupcake + a bonus tutorial for picking up the stitches for the cupcake. The blanket portion is knit flat in garter stitch for great tactile stimulation, the cupcake is knit in the round. Simple crochet stitches are used for decoration. Easy peasie stuff for intermediate knitter. If you run into trouble, pattern support is always just an email away.

Materials: Worsted Weight yarn in the following quantities/color– 90 yds Purple; 100 yds Dark Pink; 90 yds White; 20 yds Light Pink; 5 yds Green; 2 yds waste yarn

Tools: US size 8/5mm straight needles (or size needed for gauge); US size 6/4mm 40” (101.6cm) soft cable needle for MAGIC LOOP or a set (5) of double pointed needles (or size needed for gauge); G/4mm crochet hook; 1 split ring (removable) stitch marker
