I spent much of the summer pondering what kind of project I could do for my annual not-mystery knit-a-long and kept coming up empty. I was nearly ready to call it a wash and shelve the NMKAL this year. But then, as we crossed the Currituck Sound on our way home from our annual family week at the beach, inspiration struck: a 2-color shawl featuring stitch patterns I’d used in various designs over the years! After that, the pattern fell into place quickly, and the Currituck Sound shawl was born. It uses 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn and utilizes a design element I’ve employed frequently over the years: slipped stitches. They’re so versatile and Currituck Sound shows off the ways they can be used to create dramatically different stitch patterns.
