This kerchief is “cushy” for 2 reasons.

First, the yarn. This is not your standard kerchief. It’s knit in worsted/aran yarn, giving it a weighty edge on the classic silk variety. Don’t get me wrong -- I love a silk kerchief or scarf. But there’s something so cozy about this weighty, cotton necktie. Plus, any knot you tie is wonderfully oversized, like costume jewelry with distinct bobbles and beads.

Anyway.

My point is: the yarn is cushy. The kerchief is literally cushy. It’s a hug around your neck.

But it’s also SO easy to make. A “cushy” project. This is a very basic pattern. It steals from shawl shaping techniques, adds a pretty edge… and, well, that’s it! It’s the perfect project for beginners and mindless-knitting lovers (Hi, that’s me!).

So, cast on! Get cushy! Make a kerchief! I think you’ll be glad you did.
