The gauge will depend on what type of yarn and hook you decide to use…ultimately for this graphgan,
and most of them, it is pretty universal and the choice is up to you.

I prefer to work with worsted weight yarns, size 4, and 5 mm hooks.

17 sts x 16 sts = 4 inch

This pattern is worked in 30 rows of 30 stitches, alternating in seven different colors to form the motif.
