Shawl Construction - The inspiration for this crescent-shaped shawl is the historic bicycle race being held in September 20th to 27th, 2026 in Old Montréal. The shawl starts with a unique, stretchy YO (yarnover) Garter Tab Cast On and various increases within the design elements. As we begin our knitting tour, we will knit a series of garter stitch bands, resembling roads, and a lace pattern reminiscent of falling leaves, We cannot miss knitting the beloved iconic Maple Leaf, the Symbol of Canada. As we continue to climb the beautiful hills around the old city, it will remind us of the cyclist’s unbelievable ability, strength, and endurance. There will be more iconic sites to view on the circuit, and some relaxing garter roadways to provide us with a bit of a rest break. As we head toward to the end of this event, the riders and you are getting ready for the final push to the finish and the challenging cobblestones. Yarn - 3 Skeins - Les Garçons BFL Sock - 400 yds (366 meters) per 100g skein or similar fingering weight yarn. Colorway used for sample - Nick’s Currant Obsession - Estimated usage - 920 yards (841 m).

Needles - US 4 (3.50 mm) for the main pattern and US 7 (4.50 mm) for the bind-off circular needles. Various circular needle cord lengths can be used - recommended at the beginning 22 in (56 cm) - progressing to a 40 in (102 cm).
