The sweater is worked from the top down.
First, the back yoke is worked, with the shoulders shaped using short rows, the remainder of the yoke is knitted before it is set aside while the front is worked.
Stitches are picked up along the slanted shoulders of the back, and each side of the neckline is worked separately before the front is joined at the centre, where the first section below the neckline is worked according to chart.
The front and back are then joined and worked in the round.
Stitches are picked up around the armholes for the sleeves, which are knitted to the desired length.
Finally, stitches are picked up for the neckband, which is worked in double rib, folded over, and sewn to the wrong side of the work.
