Cynefin is a flexible crescent shaped shawl with an elegant lace that can be worked in 2 different ways.

Both the yoke and the 2 lace sections can be repeated indefinitely, allowing the shawl to be worked to any size or yardage.

The reverse stockinette yoke is specifically designed to sit flat at the nape and avoid the dreaded hump. This leads gently into a decadent lace edge, based on a secret code stitch by Naomi Parkhurst, which can be worked so that the lace either aligns or offsets.

Cynefin is a Welsh word meaning a place that feels like home. The pattern best suit solid or gradient yarns.

  • The size of the shawl is adaptable, both the yoke and the lace sections can be worked to any size.
  • Suits lace - sport weight yarn in any yardage between approx 300m and 900m.
  • The design can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with some notes.
