This sweater is inspired by my grandchildren Deedi & Mahi. Like all children of their age, they needed practical, durable, easy to wear sweaters. Mom preferred closed sweaters over buttoned cardigans because of choking hazard. Once children learn how to take off their clothes, they go through a phase where they enjoy taking off whatever they’re wearing regardless of the season. I believe closed sweaters are harder to take off than cardigans. Furthermore, it’s almost impossible to keep a scarf around young children’s necks.
As a result, I came up with this ribbed shoulders and ribbed collar design to keep their necks and shoulders warm without them feeling suffocated, like when wearing a turtleneck sweater.
I’ve included photo tutorial for visual learners. Any questions or suggestions are highly appreciated.
