Dahlia Shell
Dahlia: a beautiful flower with a striking silhouette. Like its namesake, the Dahlia Shell is strong and opinionated. It represents classic style - with a twist. Dahlias are often symbollically seen as “wild cards”; dressed in this tank, you won’t be afraid to show off an adventurous side. Dahlia strikes an elegant and finished silhouette without picking up for the neckline and armholes - all the finishing work is in the back detailing. Dahlia can be dressed up or down for almost any occasion. Throw on a jacket for a modest look with a surprising secret, or wear bare-armed (and backed!) for a night on the town.
Dahlia is knit in two pieces - first, top-down for the front. Then, using a provisional cast on, the back is worked in one piece, picking up stitches along the back to achieve the desired drape.
This pattern is part of my senior thesis for Baylor University’s Honors Program - almost 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charity (full purchase price minus fees). Because of licensing, I can’t specify which organization I’ll be supporting, but I will be contributing to a nonprofit that is well-known for fighting breast cancer. If you have any questions regarding progress or accountability, don’t hesitate to contact me.
