Dainty Butterfly Placemat
The Dainty Butterfly Placemat was designed for my family table as we go in to the season of Lent. A butterfly is a wonderful picture of the emerging beauty that comes with the Easter season. It was created with two strands of crochet thread held together for the body and edge. The frame was worked with a heavier thread. A size E hook was used for this. With these materials, the design comes out to be about 10 inches in diameter. Gauge is not important. Any kind of yarn with an appropriate hook can be used to create this. For four placemats you will need about one ball of thread per color. I used two pairs of colors and one additional color by itself.
